“(DE)COMPOSITION OF THE LANDSCAPE”
The aim of this project is to identify potential stands of trees in need of thinning around the Southwater area. It is essential for the landscape to flourish that plants receive adequate water, light, and nutrients. This project involves the community working together to locate the specific areas requiring thinning, removing excess trees, and collecting debris.
The collected timber will then be sorted based on quality and transported to the respective workshops. High-quality timber will be delivered to the main workshop, while the remaining material will be taken to the community workshop. Volunteers will have the opportunity to learn how to transform the scraps into smaller trophies and other items.
The project comprises two workshops, a yard with a sawmill, 15 housing units, and two office units. The facilities have been designed with environmental sustainability in mind, utilizing renewable energy sources such as solar power or wind turbines, and employing waste reduction and energy efficiency measures.
Through this initiative, the aim is to engage the community in a positive impact project that will promote environmental sustainability and enable us to create a more sustainable future. The project looks forward to gifting or trading the trophies and sharing the joy of this initiative with the community.
